Our Founder
Dr Nishat Zakaria is a skin scientist trained in molecular biochemistry, specialising in skin biology, metal homeostasis, and ageing. Her doctoral research focused on how essential metals such as zinc and copper are distributed within human skin, and how these distributions change with age, inflammation, and barrier dysfunction.
Her work integrates advanced analytical techniques, including high-resolution imaging and trace metal analysis, to understand the molecular and biochemical processes that underpin skin health. This research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and contributes to the growing scientific understanding of how skin composition, structure, and microbiology interact to maintain homeostasis.
Dr Zakaria’s expertise spans three core areas of skin science:
- Skin barrier biology, including lipid organisation and transepidermal water loss,
- Skin pH regulation and its role in microbial stability, and
- The skin microbiome and its relationship to inflammation and resilience.
Her academic training and research background inform the scientific philosophy behind the brand, which prioritises evidence-based formulation, biological plausibility, and rigorous standards over cosmetic trends.
